2 Year Anniversary of Walking in the Park
response
[info]nyssastandish

I started walking in the park two years ago on May 10, 2010. Ten days earlier I was in London, Ontario with my sister and our friend Susan to see the movie Gunless. We were walking around London and I felt awful. I didn't like that feeling. I was going to be 40. I didn't want to be like this anymore. I had done the Nutrisystem thing a couple years before. I lost ten pounds, but I had terrible gas from the food.

The most I weighed was 324 pounds. When I started walking in the park I weighed around 314 pounds. I walked four days a week once around the park. After August I walked five days a week. I lost 20 pounds by Thanksgiving. Just from walking.

By my next birthday I had to get a new drivers licence and got to put 278 pounds under weight. In December, 2011 I began walking two laps in the park. I have since lost 38 pounds and now weigh 240 pounds (according to my bathroom scale, and this is the first I've used it.)

MARCon was on a different weekend this year.  Not as many people were there.  But I understand when the weekend changes, so does the attendance.  I still had fun.  There were a lot of things I wanted to do.  I saw a lot of the people I usually see there.  I participated more, and that is where you make it an enjoyable con.

What we did... )

We had a good time. I hope others did too.

At the science fiction convention, MARCon. Having a great time. Seeing some friends. Brought the reindeer. They are having a blast, but they do not have to walk everywhere. Dressing up tomorrow. Got a compliment on my purse I made.

Best Achievement in Art Direction
"The Artist" seen
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" seen

It is a tough choice between The Artist and Hugo, but how much was real in Hugo? I will say The Artist.

Best Achievement in Cinematography
"The Artist" seen
"The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" meh

"War Horse" seen

Hugo. Martin Scorsese used the technology to the max for this movie.

"W.E." meh

The Artist. Why not one more thing?

Best Achievement in Film Editing

Best Achievement in Visual Effects

"Hugo" seen
"Real Steel" seen
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" seen

Real Steel. So much of this category is for the same type of effects. I liked this best because it was a little different. We have seen the effects in Harry Potter, Transformers, and Planet of the Apes before. Hugo had little beyond the 3-D.

Fun at Work (Yeah Right!)
WWSMD
[info]nyssastandish
Monday night before I left work, I went to the rest room.  To my horror the toilet would not flush very well.  I even used the plunger.  Tuesday... I hoped the toilet would somehow be miraculously fixed.  It was not.  We put a note on the door it aould be better not to use the toilet, because, well, it did flush just not well.  So if it was an emergency it could still be used.  We told the boss.  I said the plunger didn't work. (I called it a piece of crap.)  I have thought this for a while.  It is a very pretty plunger a gray rubber part and the handle is a clear plastic or acrylic.  It would win in a plunger fight, just not a race.  The rubber is very hard and does not produce a seal to create a vaccuum.

The boss brought her good plunger from home and fixed the problem.

Weight Rant

I am really, really tired of people asking me, "Don't you feel better now that you have lost weight?"

I always shrug and say I guess so.

Then they as again, "Come on.  You have to feel better."

Smile.

I know I am healthier.  I know I can walk faster.  I don't need to walk faster, but I can.  I probably do feel better, but it not something that is describable.  I have always been comfortable with who I am.  Yes, I am fat.  Yes, now I am less fat.  Do I feel better?  It is still not all sunshine and roses.  It never has been. There was no lightening strike =boom= feel better.  I am not different.  I am not suddenly a whole new person just because I have dropped a couple of sizes.

Just leave me alone and stop asking.  I will tell you if anything like that happens.  Trust Me.

I cannot believe that there are houses with Christmas decorations up already.  I noticed some almost 2 weeks ago.  It was really funny.  In one neighborhood one house had Christmas decorations up and the next door neighbor had Halloween decorations up.  Nice.

The musical I'm playing for, Meet Me in St Louis, is going well.  We open in  two weeks.  There is still work to do, but it is a fun story.  The keys and key changes are killer though.

I haven't had time to go to a lot of movies mostly because of rehearsals.  The last one I saw was Tower Heist.  It was a lot of fun.  The trailers did a good job of not telling the whole story.  We are going to see the Muppets on Friday.  Yea! Can't wait.

I have to work today and then I get the rest of the week off.  Get to see the rest of the family on Thursday.  I hope people can make it.
